FAQ

Is Satin Studio a converter?

No. It imports and exports files, but the main object is the project. The project is where editing, warnings, threads, proofs, worksheets, and export history belong.

What formats work now?

PES import/export, PEC import, SVG import, and TTF/OTF font import are available now. Other formats are planned or under research. See File formats and status.

What is a .satin file?

.satin is the planned portable project package. Hosted saved projects serve as the editable project source today.

Can I use purchased designs?

Yes, if they are in a supported format. PES and PEC can be imported now. They open as stitch streams, not as guaranteed editable objects.

Does preview guarantee the sew-out?

No. Preview can show the stitch plan and many risks. Fabric, stabilizer, hooping, needle, thread, tension, and speed still control the physical result. Test stitch important work.

What is Design Health?

Design Health is the production check. It looks for hoop, density, fabric, text, jump, trim, resize, thread, and export risks.

What is X-Ray?

X-Ray shows structure that realistic preview hides: density, underlay, travel, trims, jumps, tie stitches, stitch direction, and warning regions.

Can I edit text?

Yes, when the project contains editable text. Use imported TTF/OTF font assets when exact lettering matters. Do not assume arbitrary system fonts will sew well.

Should I keep the exported machine file or the project?

Keep the project. The machine file is for sewing. The project is for revision and reproducible export.

Can I use iPad or iPhone?

Use desktop for full editing. Use iPad and iPhone for review, proofing, worksheet use, and safe prepared edits as the app supports them.
