File formats and status
A filename extension is only the beginning of the story. Machine generation, software version, hoop metadata, palettes, and sidecar files can all change what a format means.
The matrix below tells you which jobs Satin Studio performs for each format.
Status labels
- Supported — Satin Studio reads or writes the format as shown.
- Reference only — the format is documented for identification and research, but Satin Studio does not open or export it.
- Asset or document — useful project material rather than a machine stitch stream.

When a file behaves differently
Open the detailed format page and compare the version, machine family, hoop, and color information with your file. Satin Studio keeps the original bytes and reports unsupported records instead of silently guessing.
The wider embroidery format library includes identification notes for older and uncommon formats.
